LOOKING FORWARD

2012 will be another busy year in the arts with another 250 concerts, exhibits, recitals, and shows from more than 40 organizations. FIRST NIGHT LIVE

First Night Burlington has a citywide, substance-free party of stage shows, musical acts, and arts activities to kick off the new year. Downtown Friday from noon on. A huge number of performers are either from Franklin County or are Summer Sounds favorites. Read more

The Montgomery Historical Society Concerts By The Common series presents Banjo Dan and the Mid-Nite Plowboys. The Greensboro United Church hosts the Karen McFeeters Benefit Concert for Parkinson’s Disease. Phish will play a special benefit at Champlain Valley Expo for flood recovery in Vermont. Read more

SUMMER IS NOW OFFICIAL!

Bay Day 2011 kicks off a day with lots more than fireworks in St. Albans Town Bay Park all day this Sunday. The 31st annual summer festival offers a full family day with the Great Race, lakefront games, sports, fair food, fireworks, and continuous live music, this year to celebrate Labor Day. Live music for Bay Day includes Neon Spoon plus Gary Dulabaum and Josh Brooks, and some very special guests. Then Carol Ann Jones & her All-Star Band The Superchargers perform right in to the fireworks in the Summer Sounds-Bay Day season finale. Read more

The Artist In Residence Gallery features Jan Brosky, Kathleen Patrick, Frank Tiralla, Henry Trask-Reilly, and Andrew Wooten. The Northwestern Medical Center Gallery hosts Ann Bissonnette. The Champlain Valley Fair Art Gallery takes over the Blue Ribbon Pavilion Meeting Rooms. Read more

Artspace art center in Raleigh, NC, wants innovative work in 2-dimensional or 3-dimensional media for solo or group exhibitions. California’s Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival poster contest offers cash prizes. The City of Greeley is pre-qualifying artists for historical Weld County mural(s). The 36th Women’s International Photography Exhibition wants artists working with in any photographic process. South Shore Art Center has invited artists and curators to propose exhibitions for their Bancroft Gallery. Read more
