Jazz will mesmerize Highgate Municipal Park as Chevalier Drilling presents Jenni Johnson and the Jazz Junketeers in the free Summer Sounds concert on Sunday. Read more

The Opera House has three courses of Chicken BBQ, two of Green Mountain Chorus, and one Afterglow. Concerts By The Common presents the Constitution Brass Quintet in Pratt Hall. Sheldon United Methodist Church has its 151st Anniversary Summer BBQ and Music Celebration with the Backyard Bluegrass Band. St. Paul’s presents Tim Zimmerman and the King’s Brass. Read more

FIRE RELIEF CONCERTS

The Swanton Fire Department Auxiliary and the Swanton Chamber Of Commerce will host the SwanStock Fire Relief Benefit Concert in Swanton Village Park on Saturday. Headlined by Greg Izor and the Boxkickers from Austin Texas and Jimmy Branca, the music lineup also include Run for Cover, the Nobby Reed Project, Mike Lykens, Julie Tiller, Conscious Roots, and Deana and the Naturals. Then Nectar’s will host the Jim Branca Fire Relief Benefit in the club with Paul Asbell, Will Patton and the Fabulous Spiders, The Real Deal, Left Eye Jump, the Nerbak Brothers, Greg Izor and the BoxKickers, and Jim Branca on Sunday. Chowbella hosts The Young Guns Showcase in the monthly It’s All About the Song Festival. The Georgia Community Center has Carol Ann Jones in a solo performance. SUMMER IS OFFICIALLY HERE!

Bay Day 2010 kicks off a day with lots more than fireworks in St. Albans Town Bay Park on Sunday. Bay Day has live music all day with the Keeghan Nolan band plus Gary Dulabaum and Josh Brooks in the afternoon.

Sunday evening the All Arts Council and the Town of St. Albans welcome Carol Ann Jones & her All-Star Band The Superchargers in an Independence Day tribute in the Summer Sounds season premiere that leads right into the fireworks. Read more

The Artist In Residence Gallery features Bob Eldridge, Pam Krout-Voss, Martha Ohliger, Karen Scheffler, and JoAnne Wazny with a free meet-the-artists reception tonight. Corliss Blakely’s Visions of Nature exhibit opens tomorrow with a reception at the Flynn. The Northwestern Medical Center Gallery hosts the photographs of Lori Lagro. The Bryan Memorial Gallery summer exhibit, Land and Light, begins with artists Pam Fiaschetti, Charles Meunier, Mark Tougias, and more. Read more

BOOM BOX

An apartment house explosion in Swanton Village early Saturday morning left one man in the hospital with severe burns and several families homeless. The other six residents of the four apartments, including well-known singer and songwriter of the blues Jim Branca and his family, escaped without injuries. Read more

SUMMER SOUNDS!

Monday was the first day of Summer and the Longest Day of the year. That means the All Arts Council Summer Sounds series will begin at Bay Day with Carol Ann Jones and the Superchargers playing into the fireworks. The lineup is great. Read more

The Bryan Memorial Gallery/New England Plein Air Painters exhibit, Paint Vermont, features new work by artists who have painted in and around Jeffersonville within the past year and draws to a close on Sunday. Read more
