CREATIVE ECONOMY = MORE ARTS?

      President Barack Obama entered office on Tuesday with the first-ever presidential arts platform. His priorities include his proposals to create an Artists Corps and to expand public/private partnerships between schools and arts organizations, both to revitalize the arts in education. He also wants to return National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) funding to earlier levels. Read more

      Kellicutt International, the Coastal Arts League Juried Photo Show is Through A Lens, Contrasting Elements. The 23rd Rosen Outdoor Sculpture Competition will place ten new sculptures on the campus of Appalachian State University alongside the Halpert Biennial national, juried, visual art competition.       There is a Family Dance Contra Dance with Fiddleheads in Jericho and the Lincoln Inn has Big Spike Bluegrass. The Village Tavern hosts Open Mic. The regular Music Session continues. Cambridge Arts Council holds community dances. Chow Bella offers jazz and improv. Read more

      We expect over 250 concerts, exhibits, recitals, and shows from more than 40 organizations:      2009 marks the 400th anniversary of Samuel de Champlain’s exploration. Read more

Many Franklin County presenters and individual artists from the Art in Bloom Festival to school art programs will make 2009 the busiest year ever in the arts. Read more

The five major Franklin County area Festivals have built more than 150 years of outdoor arts and entertainment here. The Vermont Maple Festival begins the outdoor season each year. The Vermont Dairy Festival starts the summer. And the Jig in the Valley, the Lake Champlain Bluegrass Festival, and Franklin County Field Days fill the biggest weeks of the season. Read more
